Easily adapted to vegan
This cheat version of Pork Char Siu uses our preservative-free and gluten-free sausages. The explosion of sweetness and savoury turns it into a big bbq favourite. This dish is affordable and pretty darn tasty!
Mix all the marinade ingredients together in a bowl – set aside in a large flat dish.
Score each sausage with a knife to split the skin. Next remove the meat and add to a bowl. Do this for all 12 sausages. Make 12 balls from the sausage meat. One sausage = one large ball.
Place all the formed pork balls in the dish and spoon the marinade over the balls until they completely covered. Cover the dish in cling film and chill in the fridge overnight.
Thread the veg and balls onto soaked wooden skewers, allowing three balls per skewer, with a veg medley inbetween, to make 4 decent sized skewers / 1 per person. Use one pack of sausages for 2 persons.
Brush each filled skewer with oil and some more char siu marinade then grill each skewer on a hot bbq or a hot griddle pan, turning frequently until browned and cooked through.
Serve with rice or in a nan bread, and dress with coriander leaves and sesame seeds, and plain yoghurt (optional).
Enjoy!
